There are only 12 men who have stepped foot on the moon, including of course, one of the Worlds most well known personal brands, Neil Armstrong with his small step that was a giant leap for mankind.

As we celebrate 50 years since this incredible event, it reminds me that launching your personal brand, is the same as launching a rocket into space…

Today, the famous feat to send man to the Moon, seems even more impossible than it was back in 1969.

It was such an incredible mission, especially when you consider the lack of technology they had to achieve such an amazing journey to Earth's only moon.

It is ironic that today, in just 0.61 seconds, I can find over 32,000 pages about ‘moon landing conspiracies’ on Google, using a phone that is millions of times smarter than the lunar lander they used.

The most interesting thing is that, even though technology has advanced and countries all over the World are launching their own rockets into our skies, the process to launch has basically remained the same.

You still need to know where you are going, you need a rocket to take you there, plenty of fuel in the tank, a firm platform to launch from and strong support team.

It's the same process when you build and launch your personal brand.

Rocket Launching Your Personal Brand

The first step is to be 100% clear on your direction, where you want to go and what you want to achieve.

No point packing tools to collect moon rock if you are not to going to leave Earth's orbit.

Next you need a unique approach or process that solves a problem people are desperate to fix and it is that vehicle which will take you on the journey to becoming well known, well paid and wanted.

Then whatever you do, needs to be totally fuelled by passion and purpose.

Your personal brand vehicle will be your life-support, it will ensure you have a point of difference that makes you stand out from the competition.

It will also enable you to provide a lift for those you wish to help, no matter what sort of environment they are in, so you can transport them to the place they really want to be.

Passion And Purpose

In 1960, 9 years before man would plant footprints in moon dust, John F Kennedy spoke of the 'New Frontier' at a Democratic Convention and he said that “effort and courage are not enough without purpose and direction”.

So the first step in launching your personal brand, is to set your purpose and choose your direction.

Your Personal Brand Launch Pad

Now you know where you are going and how you are going to get there, and you have fuel in your tank, based on a passion to help people, it’s time to build a firm platform to launch from.

A launch site is far more than one single pad, it is the entire platform and the complex that enables humans to send rockets into space.

In the same way, your personal brand platform includes every aspect of your personal brand launch pad; your expertise, experience, core skills, services, products, programs, books, webinars, social media groups, website, Linked profile, networking and speaking...

When you have a really well structured platform to launch from, not only can you create multiple streams of income for your expertise, you also create true trust currency and credibility.

So when is the right time to launch your personal brand?

There is no 'right time' to do anything, you simply make a decision and do it!

Here's how:

Make sure you have step 1 and two in place first:

1) Know your destination and be clear on your direction

2) Have a unique approach or process to solve a problem you are passionate about

Once you have those, you should immediately begin launch sequence.

5,4,3,2,1...blast off!

Don’t wait until you have everything done, because that time will never come.

There is no such thing as perfect.

The first three attempts at a ‘soft landing’ on the moon failed, although there were several successful ‘hard landings’ (i.e. crashes).

You have to keep going, until eventually you touch the moon.

Take Flight And Perfect As You Go.

When you launch your personal brand, you are better to get into orbit as soon as possible.

It is going to take 3 years to get your brand to the point where you are recognised and respected, with a reputation that naturally attracts the right people to you and your business.

So don't hesitate. It's time to take action.

Write your book and get it out there, updating the edition later as you evolve, or get a landing page up while you design your website.

Start going to networking to learn and improve, speak on podcasts while you develop your ‘stage presence’ and confidence.

Like and follow influencers, start your Facebook group.

Creating a launch pad, while you launch is the fastest way to rocket launch your business, but don’t try to do too much all at once.

Go back to steps one and two and confirm you are working on what matters most, that you have the right goal and enough passion to get there.

Most importantly, remember, there is no room in emerging or growing business for fear.

After all, as the author of ‘The Power of Positive Thinking’, Norman Vincent Peale said, you should “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.”
